Mr. Folsan - let me first say that I agree with almost everthing you've said, with the exception of the current state of Placid and the Intaki.
Originally by: Jack Folstam As I recall, the federation didn't have no response to the events at Reschard, they were just unable to track down the culprits - the president was Souru Foritain - an Intaki.
Race does not equal heritage. President Foritan's actions have proven a low connection with his fellow Intaki. The same applies to the vast numbers of Intaki in the Gallente government. If not for outspoken figures such as the Idama (who has been strangely silent these days), the government would have a complete blind eye to the Intaki and people of all races who live outside the lucrative trading routes of Essence and Sinq Liason.
In the aftermath of Reschard, who provided the significant disaster relief? Upon last examination, the Sisters of Eve are not a part of the Gallente Government. In addition, the Gallente Navy couldn't even be bothered to send escort to the Sisters convoy, which I may add was heavily attacked by pirates. While I still hold some faith with the government, its track record of helping the people of Placid has been poor at best.
Originally by: Jack Folstam These Intaki with selective views of history forget that they asked for less Federation Navy and CONCORD presence, so that they could do as they pleased.
That fact is often recited by those who wish to discredit Intaki pleas for increased security. It is true; our people desired a home region unfettered by a large military presence. What you forget was this was at the creation of the Federation. Placid, and indeed the entire universe, was a very different place 300 years ago. The universe today is a far more dangerous setting for civilians and small business travelers. 300 years ago there was no civil war with the Caldari, no Serpentis pirates festering in the Navy's blind spots. The Placid of today is overrun with a new generation of lawless pod pilots drunk on their perceived immortality. They in particular kill indesriminately, making steady, reliable commerce (and prosperity) impossible.
In light of these new dangers, we of Placid have been requesting increased security with patience and optimism, but are answered with deafening silence. And don't bother even mentioning the Intaki Union or the Syndicate; those groups have abandoned our home world of Intaki to pursue their own interests.
